Q&A: I am high functioning but have bipolar II and would like a responsible 12 Step group in San Diego, Clairemont?

Question by Imelda P: I am high functioning but have bipolar II and would like a responsible 12 Step group in San Diego, Clairemont?
I have been so high functioning all my life that it took a lifetime to get a excellent diagnosis. I attended EA a few occasions, but it wasn’t for me, at least not at the time. I checked out offerings at the VA, but it looked like a format not optimal for true peer assistance. If anyone knows of a good support group close to Clairemont, San Diego, please reply.

Is there a group that deals with codependency issues that does not use the 12 step?

Question by Justwondirin: Is there a group that offers with codependency troubles that does not use the 12 step?
I was told by my gf that I have codependency concerns I tried the groups she recomended but they all use the 12 step program and I got the feeling that the situation there is about getting individuals to submit to God far more than it is about people helping folks. So I’m hunting for some thing far more scientific and a lot less “spiritual”
    Thanks in advance.

Has anyone ever been part of a 12-step group, then given it up?

Question by Shirley Temple: Has any person ever been aspect of a 12-step group, then offered it up?
I ask because I had a great deal of problems in my life about 6 years ago, so I went to a 12-step group for emotional help and so on. I have been going for the past 5 and 1/2 years religiously, but I am noticing that I am not receiving a lot support anymore from the groups or men and women there. Is it probable to develop out of the plan? They say that 12-step groups are a lifetime program and noone “graduates”. Can anybody relate to this or has any person gone to a 12-step plan for a prolonged whilst and then cease? Are you happy that you stopped going? I’d love to hear about your experiences with 12-step groups. Thank you!
