Why does it seem that every person who is involved in AA or NA or a 12 step program automatically assumes if y?

Question by dreamwhip: Why does it seem that every person who is involved in AA or NA or a 12 step system automatically assumes if y?
you drink alcohol you are an alcoholic or if you take a prescription medication for anxiety or pain for example then you are destined to be a drug addict? Why are their evaluations created to determine a individual is in denial. I agree that denial is a sign of addiction but denial is also a sign of a extremely healthy individual who does not have a difficulty? Any AA or non AA sober individuals out there who can answer this please

    Greatest answer:

    Answer by Jane
In a way I agree with you.
Indeed there are those in AA that are in reality alcoholics, but this term seems to be finding broader by the minute. I employed to binge drink due to PTSD, but as soon as I got help for that it seemed to dissipate. I think that there are those out there that think they have alcoholism when in truth they have emotional issues that when tended to are fine.
I was told I was an alcoholic only to locate out I wasn’t, no tremors, no desperate want to drink when I didn’t have any offered.
Too many individuals put labels on others due to the fact it makes them really feel safe and in control, but when you get it wrong it can result in a lot more harm than very good.
I admire the function AA do, but we want to be careful too. Had I not been effectively diagnosed I would have been a lot worse off.

In the Name of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus H. Christ, Can I use the FSM for a 12-step program?

Question by Arizona Knight Wolf: In the Name of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus H. Christ, Can I use the FSM for a 12-step plan?
!2 step programs, such as AA, call for a person to admit to God that they have troubles and need to have help. Well, getting an Atheist, figuring out that God is not actual, the a variety of 12 steps would not perform for me. Would it be okay to replace God with the FSM, given that the FSM is genuine, and God is not?
