In a way I agree with you.
Indeed there are those in AA that are in reality alcoholics, but this term seems to be finding broader by the minute. I employed to binge drink due to PTSD, but as soon as I got help for that it seemed to dissipate. I think that there are those out there that think they have alcoholism when in truth they have emotional issues that when tended to are fine.
I was told I was an alcoholic only to locate out I wasn’t, no tremors, no desperate want to drink when I didn’t have any offered.
Too many individuals put labels on others due to the fact it makes them really feel safe and in control, but when you get it wrong it can result in a lot more harm than very good.
I admire the function AA do, but we want to be careful too. Had I not been effectively diagnosed I would have been a lot worse off.

My very first greater power was a light bulb in the church of the AA group I attended. I was quite skeptical of religion and God at that time so I chose the light bulb due to the fact it was there each time I was and when I focused on it, I was able to forget about taking a drink for the hour I was in there.
Thirteen years later I am still skeptical about religion and God so in reality the AA group is my higher power (Note, the group and not an individual in the group) simply because they give me what I want to remain away from a drink on a every day basis and I have seen the groups do some extraordinary issues in my life and in the lives of other. Everybody in a group, from the old timer with 50 years sobriety to the person who comes in that day wanting to quit drinking, to the person who relapses gives me a thing I can use. I chose the AA group due to the fact I could see miracles. I saw individuals who had nothing but the clothes on their back get sober and get jobs and apartments. I saw folks who cried and were depressed all of the time laughing. As for me, I picked up my last drink on Jan 11, 1996. I have peace of thoughts and correct friends. The folks in AA loved me till I learned to adore myself.
